Garena announced it's Garena Professional League (GPL) in the month of May 2012, a 6 month professional gaming competition that features over 100 online matches. GPL's inaugural season features six teams of experienced League of Legends players. which represent top players from different countries. GPL games are filmed and streamed online with commentary, and can be viewed by viewers see on the GPL official website. In January 2013, Garena revealed the second Season of Garena Premier League, which would start on 4 January 2013. Garena Premier League 2013 includes two teams that are new to Taiwan and Vietnam adding the total team count to eight. The teams are: AHQ, Saigon Fantastic Five, Bangkok Titans, Kuala Lumpur Hunters, Manila Eagles, Saigon Jokers, Taipei Assassins and Singapore Sentinels. In November 2014, the Garena e-Sports Stadium, an esports-specific venue began operations at Neihu District, Taipei. The studio opened in November 2014, which coincided with the opening of the League of Legends Masters Series. The league is the world's premier LoL Taiwanese in Hong Kong, Taiwanese, as well as the Macau LoL League, which is a spin-off of the GPL. In the month of January, Garena launched Iron Solari League, a women's League of Legends tournament in the Philippines. This is a regular event held in the second week of every month. The event is designed to encourage participation of communities with low representation and is accessible to anyone who identifies as such. Besides competitive tournaments, Garena also organizes events that allow users to meet and connect offline.
